Meet One of Our Contingent Workers, Casie Shimansky: A Beacon of Hope in the Fight Against Childhood Cancer

In an uplifting story of bravery and kindness, Casie Shimansky shines as a ray of hope in the ongoing battle against childhood cancer, demonstrating how the commitment of a single individual can indeed lead to a significant impact. As a worker for one of TCWGlobal's clients and part of its contingent workforce, Casie sets an example for us all as she brings her professional expertise and personal commitment to a cause close to her heart: the fight against childhood cancer.

It all started with a simple work assignment to capture the essence of a St. Baldrick's event through her camera lens. But little did Casie know that this assignment would transform her life.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is famous for its unique fundraising events where people shave their heads. This symbolic act serves as a meaningful way to show support and solidarity for children with cancer and helps raise money for research into curing childhood cancer.

Seeing individuals from all walks of life come together for such a noble purpose struck a chord with Casie, igniting a flame that would grow into a roaring blaze of activism and fundraising prowess.

Over the years, Casie and her Live Out Loud team have raised over $150,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, earning her the title of a 6-time Global Top Fundraiser. Her commitment didn't stop at fundraising; she's also a 6-time shavee, personally embracing the act of solidarity by shaving her head, and a 14-time volunteer, dedicating her time and talents to organizing and supporting events.

The impact of Casie's work and the community rallying around her efforts are part of a larger success story, contributing to the St. Baldrick's Foundation's achievement of raising over $340 million in research funding.

The story of Casie's journey intertwines with her personal life in a chapter that is as touching as it is inspiring, just two days after exchanging vows with her husband, Sean, in a beautiful ceremony on March 22, 2018. A few days later they both shaved their heads at St. Baldrick's annual fundraiser, raising thousands of dollars and proving that their commitment to making a difference transcends all aspects of their lives.

This year, Casie's mission is deeply personal and poignant. She aims to raise $20,000 in memory of her sister Kellie, marking "20 Years without Kellie" in a tribute that underscores the emotional stakes in the fight against childhood cancer.

Casie Shimansky's story is a powerful illustration of how individual initiative, fueled by passion and supported by a community, can lead to significant impacts in the world. Supported by TCWGlobal, which has vowed to match its team members' donations dollar for dollar, Casie's efforts exemplify the spirit of giving back and the difference one can make, one shaved head and one fundraising milestone at a time.
